The General Social Care Council (GSCC) is the regulator of the social work profession and education in England. We protect the public by requiring high standards of education, conduct and practice of social workers by ensuring that only those who are properly trained and committed to high standards practise social work.

Council meetings

The GSCC’s nine Council members are appointed by the Appointments Commission on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health. The Council meets six times a year in a public forum. More information on who the Council are, when they meet and what they consider can be found here.
