Deadline nears for consultation on codes of practice

8/2/2002

Social care workers, employers, service users and carers are being urged to respond to the General Social Care Council’s consultation on codes of practice as the deadline for responses looms.

Chief Executive, Lynne Berry, said: “We’ve been absolutely delighted with the response we’ve had so far and the level of engagement by people in the sector to the consultation. But there’s still time before 29 March to get your responses in, so if your organisation is still considering responses, I urge you to send them to us as soon as possible. We want to maximise the level of responses from all parts of the sector as well as people working in related professions and of course anyone with an interest in social care.”

The codes of practice will set the guiding principles and expectations of the social care workforce and its employers. Eventually, it will set the benchmark for hearings into allegations of misconduct – so it is vitally important to get people’s views.
