GSCC responds to announcement of 'social care tsar'

15/10/2003

Rodney Brooke, Chair of the General Social Care Council, responded to the Secretary of State for Health’s announcement of a National Director for Social Care, which he made during his speech to the National Social Services Conference in Brighton today:

“We are really pleased there will be catalyst for high quality social care right at the heart of Government. Hundreds of thousands of people rely on social care workers every day for a whole range of support, whether in their own home, a care home or in the wider community. We hope the new tsar will join with us in championing the vital work of everyone in the sector, and driving up standards for service users. We look forward to discussing this further with ministers.”
