Graham Ixer has been appointed as the new Head of Social Work Education for the General Social Care Council (GSCC).
Graham is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) as well as being an internationally respected academic holding associate professorships at universities in Sweden and the United States. He has had a long association with Kingston University, lecturing on the Master in Social Work (MSW) course.
Amongst his achievements in GSSC policy work, he has made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the original post-qualifying framework for social work education. He has also been working on proposals to extend registration to include domiciliary and care workers.

“Graham is an outstanding appointment for a post at the heart of developing social work education in England. He has an excellent record of achievement that is recognised at home and abroad. We are delighted that he is taking on the role of Head of Social Work Education at a time when improving standards of education is seen as critical to the future of social work and social care.”
Graham Ixer said:

Graham has recently published a book giving international perspectives on social work practice learning. He sits on a number of major policy groups and project boards

• Vice-chair of the Patient and Public Forum (Great Ormond Street NHS Trust)
He will take up the role on 2 January 2006.
