Melanie Henwood re-appointed to the GSCC

Melanie Henwood has been appointed by the Appointments Commission to serve for a further term as a member of the General Social Care Council (GSCC) from 1 May 2006 to 30 April 2010.
Melanie Henwood is a self-employed independent health and social care consultant. She is a specialist adviser to the Health Select Committee, an adviser on older people’s issues to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and a member of the advisory board on social care to the MS Society. Ms Henwood has held Visiting Fellowships with the London School of Economics, the University of Leeds and the Univesity of New South Wales.
Melanie has more than 25 years experience in research and analysis, focusing particularly on community care and services for older people and their carers. Before establishing her own consultancy in 1991, she held research posts at the King's Fund, the Family Policy Studies Centre, and the University of Bath.
GSCC Chair, Rodney Brooke said: “Melanie has been an incredible asset to the GSCC over the years and I am delighted that she will be with us now for a further four years. Melanie brings a wealth of experience to the GSCC and her input and knowledge is highly valued by the organisation.”
Melanie Henwood’s remuneration package for this appointment is £5673 per annum. Melanie holds no other ministerial appointments and has declared no political activity.
This appointment has been made in accordance with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice.
