GSCC welcomes Status of Social Care Report

27/04/2007

The General Social Care Council (GSCC) has today (27 April) welcomed Dame Denise Platt’s report ‘The Status of Social Care – A Review 2007’.

Rodney Brooke, GSCC Chair said:
“Dame Denise has made a typically acute diagnosis. We agree that aiming for a fully registered workforce will do much to improve the reputation and image of social care. Over time, we believe that our codes of practice and the publicity given to conduct cases will establish the professionalism of care services, in the mind of the public.

“We welcome her recommendations and look forward to playing our part in developing her vision for the 21st century jointly with our national social care partners and the Department of Health.”
