25/10/2007

The Joint Participation Steering Group report titled The Benefit Barriers to Involvement: Finding Solutions is now available on GSCC website. The report outlines the key themes emerging from a recent seminar on the benefit barriers to involvement.

The report outlines the key themes emerging from a recent seminar on the benefit barriers to involvement. The seminar was organised by the General Social Care Council, the Commission for Social Care Inspection, Shaping Our Lives, Skills for Care and the Social Care Institute for Excellence and supported by the Joint Participation Steering Group, which is a group of national organisations concerned with promoting and sharing best practice in user and carer participation in social care and health.

The report describes the ways in which the current benefit system discourages or prevents people in receipt of benefits from getting involved and outlines a number of possible solutions to the problems that were recommended by people who attended the seminar.

The report was written by Elizabeth Tilley at the General Social Care Council and was published by the Commission for Social Care Inspection. The report can also be accessed from the Joint publications section of the website.
