Social worker conduct hearing scheduled

11/09/2007

A hearing into the conduct of a Registered Social Worker from Hampshire will be held from 17 to 21 September by the social care workforce regulator for England, the General Social Care Council (GSCC).

The Registered Social Worker is alleged to have committed misconduct and breached the GSCC’s Code of Practice for Social Care Workers by engaging in sexual activity with a service user, for which they were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment.

The registrant is also to have allegedly behaved inappropriately towards the service user on numerous occasions and failed to respond to multiple emergency situations in which the service user required immediate support.

All Registered Social Workers are accountable for their conduct and practice. Action can be taken if they breach the code of practice. They can be removed from the Social Care Register if it is considered that they are no longer suitable to be a Registered Social Worker.
