Social worker conduct hearing scheduled
06/02/2008
A hearing into the conduct of a Registered Social Worker will be held from 11 to 14 February by the social care workforce regulator for England, the General Social Care Council (GSCC).
The registrant is alleged to have committed misconduct and breached the GSCC’s Code of Practice for Social Care Workers for failing to initiate a child protection inquiry; failing to inform the police or child protection response unit; and failing to arrange overnight accommodation in a place of safety for Child A, Child B and Child C, following the disclosure of Child A’s physical abuse by her father.
It is also alleged the registrant failed to inform their Interim Team Manager and other attendees at a strategy meeting regarding the above incidents; and the registrant did not record properly, or at all, their actions in Child A’s file, following the child’s disclosure of physical abuse by her father.
All Registered Social Workers are accountable for their conduct and practice. Action can be taken if they breach the code of practice. They can be removed from the Social Care Register if it is considered that they are no longer suitable to be a Registered Social Worker.
