Have you applied to register yet? The register is open to qualified social workers (both UK-qualified and international social workers) and social work students. Here you can apply to join the register.
How to apply
Step 1 - Find out how registration will affect you
Step 2 - Complete the application form
To join the Social Care Register you will need to complete an application. You can order an application pack by post or download a pdf copy of the relevant application form and supporting documents. Access below the option appropriate to you.
Online registration - We are reviewing our online application service. While this review takes place the service will not be available. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Step 3 - Processing your application
Your application will always start in our Registration department where we will process your payment and carry out the initial assessment on the information you have provided.
Please refer to the Registration processing times page for the latest processing times. Please note, sometimes an application has to be passed to another department and will take longer to deal with.
In order to establish your suitability for inclusion on the Social Care Register an assessment of any declarations or additional information contained in your application form may be required. This assessment will usually be carried out by the Conduct Intake and Assessment Service team. As part of this process you may be asked to provide further information in support of your application.
The outcome of this assessment will be either to grant Registration or there may be a need for the Conduct Investigations Team to undertake further enquiries in order to determine suitability to Register.
Often there is no reason to be concerned during the assessment of your application, however, as the regulator for social workers in England, we must be satisfied any applicant must meet the requirements for registration as set out under the GSCC Registration Rules (2008).
We would encourage you to provide us with as much information as possible in relation to any declarations made as this should speed up the assessment of your application.
Step 4 - Post-registration
