Registration processing times

It can take several weeks to assess an application depending on the type and complexity. On receipt of your application we will send you an acknowledgement letter and contact you if we require further information.

There is no need to check the progress of your application. However should you have an urgent matter you would like to discuss, you can contact us by email at registration@gscc.org.uk or telephone on 0845 070 0630. Below are the current times for processing applications to join the Social Care Register. These times will be updated each week. (Last updated 27 June 2008).

These processing times apply to straightforward applications, where all information is provided at the application stage and no further investigation is required. If your application is incomplete, contains any declarations or we need more information about your qualification, it may take longer to process.

UK qualified social worker : up to 3 weeks
If you have an offer of employment that is dependent on registration we can prioritise your application, if you or your employer provides proof of offer to ukqteam@gscc.org.uk.

Internationally qualified social worker : up to 16 weeks
If you have been offered employment with a social care employer (within England) that is dependent on registration we can prioritise your application, if you or your employer provides proof of offer to international@gscc.org.uk

Renewal applications : up to 8 weeks
Provided we receive your form before the expiry date of your registration, you will remain on the register and be able to continue to practise.

Social work student : up to 3 weeks
Please allow between seven to ten days for receipt of your registration documentation.
