Already qualified?

Once you have qualified as a social worker, the learning doesn’t stop.

Post-qualifying training

Social workers must maintain and extend their knowledge and skills in order to remain on the social care register. One way of doing this is by working towards GSCC-approved post-qualifying (PQ) awards under the PQ framework. There are three academic levels for you to progress through, and courses fall under five different areas of social work. Information on the New Post-Qualifying Framework.

Post-registration training

Registered Social Workers (RSWs) are required to keep their training and learning up-to-date in order to re-register with the GSCC after the initial three-year period. This can include many different sorts of learning, such as reading, attending conferences/training courses or gaining a post-qualifying award. Information on Post-Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
