Post-qualifying training

The outgoing post-qualifying framework was developed by the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW) in consultation with government bodies, the statutory and voluntary social work sectors, educational institutions and trade union interests, and was published in 1991.

There are two levels of PQ award under the outgoing framework:

• The Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (PQSW); and
• The Advanced Award in Social Work (AASW)

There are also four specific awards linked to the PQSW framework:

• Mental Health Social Work Award
• Child Care Award
• Practice Teaching Award
• Regulation of Care Services Award

Registration for these awards is now closed. Current candidates still have time to complete their studies - the final date by which PQ consortia must notify the GSCC of final results is 27 September 2008.
