Policy and parliamentary work

To ensure the GSCC’s responsibility as the regulator of the social work profession is being carried out effectively and efficiently we keep our core functions of regulating social workers and social work education under constant review by conducting and contributing to consultations and policy reviews.

It is also important that as a delivery body, we are aware of what is happening in the social care and health sectors, so that we can bring about effective changes to how the GSCC regulates the social work profession.

These pages present the key aspects of the GSCC’s policy work:

  • consultations in relation to the GSCC’s functions
  • responses to other bodies’ consultations, and submissions to government or parliamentary committees, review bodies, and legislation
  • external policy updates providing a monthly summary of changes which could affect or inform GSCC policy
  • research which the GSCC has carried out or commissioned to inform policy decisions
  • updates on areas of development work currently underway.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the these pages please contact us at policy@gscc.org.uk.  Please note that whilst we can discuss current GSCC policy and proposed changes to it, we are not able to answer questions regarding the specifics of any specific conduct, registration or social work education decision that the GSCC has made or is considering.
