Registration processing times

Below are the current number of registrants to the General Social Care Council register. These figures are updated each week.

Below are the current times for processing applications to join the Social Care Register (last updated 17 Feb 2012). These processing times apply to straightforward applications, where all information is provided at the application stage and no further investigation is required. If your application is incomplete, contains any declarations or we need more information, it may take longer to process.

UK qualified social worker: up to 3 weeks

We can prioritise your application if you or your employer are able to provide proof of an offer of employment dependant on GSCC registration. Please include a copy of this proof with your application form or ask your employer to request a fast track with your full name, SCR (if available) and date of birth to registration@gscc.org.uk

We will endeavor to prioritise straightforward applications as soon as possible, however please be aware that applications that need further investigation may take longer to process.

Internationally qualified social worker: up to 16 weeks

If you have been offered employment with a social care employer (within England) that is dependent on registration we can prioritise your application, if you or your employer provides proof of offer to international@gscc.org.uk

Renewal applications: up to 3 weeks

Provided we receive your form before the expiry date of your registration, you will remain on the register and be able to continue to practise

Re-applying to join the Register: up to 3 weeks

If you have an offer of employment that is dependent on registration we can prioritise your application, if you or your employer provides proof of the offer to re-applying@gscc.org.uk. Please include your Social Care reference number (if applicable), your full name and date of birth. To help us work as efficiently as possible please don’t send in the request for prioritisation until you have submitted your application.

Social work student: up to 3 weeks

If you have an offer of a placement that is dependent on registration we can prioritise your application. You, or your Higher Education Institution, can advise us by emailing student.registration@gscc.org.uk. Please provide your Social Care reference number (if applicable), your full name and date of birth. To help us work as efficiently as possible please don’t send in the request for prioritisation until you have submitted your application.

Please allow up to 10-14 working days for receipt of your registration documentation.
